Gender relations and sexuality in educational books from the final years of elementary education: a case study in a school in Ilicínea-MG

Resumo: | This article is the result of a master's thesis that had as a research problem “How do textbooks aimed at the final years of elementary school approach the theme of gender relations and sexuality? The selected books were used by students and teachers in the ninth year of elementary school at a school in the municipal network of the city of Ilicínea-MG and had image analysis as the focus. The chosen subjects were Geography, Mathematics, Portuguese Language, Science and History. The results of this study show that textbooks reinforce stereotypes around gender relations; that the analyzes around sexuality, when they exist, are not explicit, being, therefore, implied heterosexuality as the only way to live this dimension of life. |

Los libros seleccionados fueron utilizados por alumnos y docentes de noveno año de primaria de un colegio de la red municipal de la ciudad de Ilicínea-MG y tuvieron como foco el análisis de imágenes. Las asignaturas elegidas fueron Geografía, Matemáticas, Lengua Portuguesa, Ciencias e Historia. Los resultados de este estudio muestran que los libros de texto refuerzan los estereotipos en torno a las relaciones de género; que los análisis en torno a la sexualidad, cuando existen, no son explícitos, por tanto, la heterosexualidad es entendida como la única forma de vivir esta dimensión de la vida.Este artigo é resultado de uma dissertação de mestrado que teve como problema de pesquisa “Como os livros didáticos voltados aos anos finais do ensino fundamental abordam o tema das relações de gênero e sexualidade? Os livros selecionados foram usados por alunos/as e professores/as do nono ano do ensino fundamental de uma escola da rede municipal da cidade de Ilicínea-MG e tiveram a análise de imagens como foco. As disciplinas escolhidas foram Geografia, Matemática, Língua Portuguesa, Ciências e História.
