National Curricular Common Core (BNCC), High School Reform and gender issues: disputes around knowledge control

Resumo: | This research paper analyzes educational reforms implemented in Brazil in the last decade, namely the High School Reform and implementation of the National Curricular Common Core. Qualitative document analysis focused on the National Curricular Common Core document and the website “Novo Ensino Médio” (“New High School”) as sources. Extracts of websites belonging to the organizations “Escola Sem Partido” ("Nonpartisan School”) and “Todos Pela Educação” (“All For Education”), as well as journalistic pieces on the subject, were also scrutinized. It is argued that educational reforms and the resolution to adopt one unified curriculum are political strategies of imposing specific knowledge and understading under the justification of improving teaching, enhancing High School efficiency, and overall increasing of quality in education. Knowledge regarding gender is neglected under such curriculum, which aims to cast out any knowledge considered to be idological. |

Analizamos, aún, extractos de las páginas web de las organizaciones Escuela sin Partido y Todos por la Educación, además de notas periodísticas sobre el tema. En base a esos análisis, argumentamos que las reformas educacionales y la estipulación de currículos únicos son estrategias políticas de imposición de determinados saberes y conocimientos, bajo la justificación de mejoría de la enseñanza, para aumentar la eficacia de la Educación Secundaria y con eso, supuestamente, promover la calidad de la educación. Los saberes relacionados a género son descuidados en esos currículos, buscando prohibir los conocimientos considerados como ideológicos.En este artículo, analizamos las reformas educacionales implementadas en Brasil en la última década, nombradas la Reforma de la Educación Secundaria y la implementación de la Base Nacional Común Curricular. Utilizamos como fonte para a análise documental qualitativa aqui efetuada a Base Nacional Comum Curricular do Ensino Médio e o site do Novo Ensino Médio. Também analisamos excertos dos sites das organizações Escola sem Partido e Todos pela Educação, além de matérias jornalísticas sobre o assunto. Com base nessas análises, argumentamos que as reformas educacionais e a estipulação de currículos únicos são estratégias políticas de imposição de determinados saberes e conhecimentos, sob a justificativa de melhoria do ensino, para aumentar a eficiência do Ensino Médio e com isso, supostamente, promover a qualidade de educação.
