Resumo: The essay analyzes the importance of the educator Paulo Freire and the relevance of his main work, Pedagogy of the Oppressed. It highlights the overlap between the construction of the work and the weaving of the educator's life in defense of a liberating education. It emphasizes the originality of Freire's work as a handmade text, originet from the orality and its praxis but, at the same time, a classic, that maintains its pedagogical effectiveness throughout the years. Without wishing to underestimate the many criticisms on the part of those who consider it a minor work, the conception of this essay is that the simplicity of Freire’s work has not prevented it from being considered one of the most important Pedagogy works of all time. The recognition of his contribution in the educational field can be attested by the impact it has produced in the research and development of numerous pedagogical initiatives guided by his principles.

Destaca la interconexión entre la construcción del texto y el tejido de la vida del educador en defensa de una educación liberadora. Realza la originalidad de la obra de Freire como texto artesanal, nacido de la oralidad y su praxis, pero a la vez clásica, que mantiene su eficacia pedagógica a lo largo de los años. Sin subestimar las múltiples críticas por parte de quienes la consideran una obra menor, la concepción del ensayo es que la sencillez de la obra de Freire no ha impedido que sea considerada una de las obras de pedagogía más importantes de todos los tiempos. El reconocimiento a su contribución en el campo educativo puede atestiguarse por el impacto que ha tenido en la investigación en educación y en el desarrollo de numerosas iniciativas pedagógicas guiadas por sus principios.O ensaio analisa a importância do educador Paulo Freire e a atualidade de sua obra principal, Pedagogia do Oprimido. Destaca a interligação entre a construção do texto e a tessitura da vida do educador em defesa de uma educação libertadora. Ressalta a originalidade da obra de Freire enquanto um texto artesanal, nascido da oralidade e da sua práxis, mas ao mesmo tempo clássico, que mantém sua eficácia pedagógica no decorrer dos anos. Sem subestimar as muitas críticas de parte dos que a julgam uma obra menor, a concepção do ensaio é que a sua singelezanão tem impedido de ser considerada uma das mais importantes obras da pedagogia de todos os tempos.
