Resumo: | Based on a paper published in this journal in 2006, focusing on mothers' and female teachers' views on homework (understood as schoolwork transferred to the home), this text returns to the theme of family-school relations, and situates the topic in the recent context of schoolwork inevitably and entirely transferred to the home during the Covid-19 pandemic. The first part deals with the implications of homework in mothers' daily lives and in their relationship with their children, in the context of school monitoring as a maternal task; the second part deals with the extra work that women/mothers had to undertake in facilitating remote teaching at home during the period of social isolation. It concludes that, in the context of the traditional sexual division of labor and gender inequality, which attributes to women the care and education of children at home and at school, the reciprocal understanding of the difficulties faced by women-mothers, during remote teaching, encouraged solidarity and alliance between mothers and female teachers, especially when the teacher was a mother. |
