Resumo: The text aims to discuss how the signifiers of citizen and citizenship are operationalized in Geographic Education, mainly based on themes related to the city. Based on the foundations of Ernesto Laclau's Discourse Theory, we tension the curricular documents, specifically the "Base Nacional Comum Curricular," to understand that both signifiers are operationalized as nodal points that hegemonize meanings specific to school geographic knowledge.

Apoiado nos fundamentos da Teoria do Discurso de Ernesto Laclau, tensionamos os documentos curriculares, mais especificamente a Base Nacional Comum Curricular, procurando compreender que ambos os significantes são operacionalizados como pontos nodais que hegemonizam sentidos próprios de conhecimento geográfico escolar.El texto tiene como objetivo discutir cómo los significantes ciudadano y ciudadanía son operacionalizados en la Educación Geográfica, especialmente a partir de temas relacionados con la ciudad.
