Considering the formative aspects in the construction of the students' identity, mainly in adolescence, the fundamental role of social actors – school, family, students – is perceived in raising awareness of the care of their own body and sexuality. The present dissertation aimed at the elaboration of an investigative didactic sequence (SDI) for high school students, with the purpose of working on concepts in sex education in the light of the investigative approach. A document analysis was carried out in three Biology textbooks available in the PNLD 2021 on the approach to sex education. The least mentioned themes in the survey were “sexual diversity” and “sexual orientation”, which were included in the stages of the elaborate didactic sequence. It is expected, therefore, to contribute to the teaching activity in relation to the issue of sex education in schools, reminding teachers and public authorities of the importance of discussing the topic.
