O processo de truncamento no português brasileiro numa perspectiva semântico-pragmática

It was proposed, in this work, to carry out a descriptive study of the morphological process known as Vocabulary Truncation; current phenomenon in Brazilian Portuguese, which consists of formally shortening certain words of the language for discursive purposes, such as desodo (< deodorant), enfa (< nurse), Madu (< Madu-reira) among others. To this end, revisitations and analyzes of traditional approaches on the subject were made, such as what Bechara (2015), Cunha and Cintra (2017), Lima (2011) and systematized approaches say; for example, Araújo (2002), Belchor (2014), Gonçalves (2006), Heineck (2018), Scher (2011) in search of gathering pos-sible characteristics to be attributed to it in view of its function in the language. In this sense, therefore, the work is bibliographic in nature and sought to understand the behavior of this type of lexical shortening in Portuguese today from the semantic-pragmatic perspective. As a result, it was noted that Truncation can be described more efficiently from a description of use, supported by extralinguistic information, thus justifying the morphological-discursive status that the studied phenomenon can allude to
