Resumo: This paper analyzes the National Curriculum Parameters relating to discipline history for elementary schools regarding their prescription as the conception of history and transmission / learning processes of school knowledge. We intend to investigate the political and social meanings of this document was made public with the character of guiding for history teaching of basic education in the 1990s, prepared by teachers of universities and advisors within the Ministry of Education. Seeks to identify the political environment that made possible the area of History of Education to propose a thematic organization of the history curriculum. From the dialogue with curriculum field of authors and history of school subjects carried out the survey of discussions that permeated the proposition of such a document for the teaching of school history in elementary school, the subject of investigations in dissertations, theses and academic papers published in recent years. It appears that from the 1980s to the processes of disciplinary reconfiguration of history that enables the introduction of new themes, problems and objects a tendency to institutionalize as it becomes a reference document for history teachers in the year 1998.

Pretende-se investigar os significados políticos e sociais desse documento que veio a público com um caráter de norteador para o ensino de História da educação básica nos anos de 1990, elaborado por professores das Universidades e assessores no âmbito do Ministério da Educação. Busca-se identificar a ambiência política que possibilitou a área do Ensino de História a propor uma organização temática do currículo de História. A partir do diálogo com autores do campo do currículo e da história das disciplinas escolares, foi realizado o levantamento de debates que permearam a proposição de tal documento para o ensino da história escolar no ensino fundamental, tema que tem sido objeto de investigações em dissertações, teses e artigos acadêmicos publicados nos últimos anos.
