Alimentação e cultura como um campo científico no Brasil

This study aims at the establishment of Food and Culture as a scientific field in Brazil. It is part of a broader project called "A Survey on Food and Nutrition in Brazil . Our more specific aims are to describe the science park focused on the theme of Food and Culture, its geographical and institutional distribution, its insertion in the areas of knowledge, the issues investigated, the qualifications of the researchers, their academic work and its links with programs postgraduate Stricto sensu, organizations and research networks. To achieve these goals, we conducted systematic searches in the database directory of CNPq and bibliographic databases such as LILACS, SciELO, and in university libraries and research institutes in order to stand up research groups and researchers focused on our job object. With these results, we prepared tables and graphic for easy viewing of them. We note that the theme of Food and Culture is gaining greater prominence in academic discussion and the number of research groups has been growing and consolidating over the years. Three spaces of social sience world is at stake: Sociology and Anthropology , Collective Heath and Food and Nutrition , which is incorporated into the habitus of its principal agent, the investigator of the Health Sciences, reflections, potential and methodological resources from the Social Sciences and Humanities. A woven web of meanings that meeting place between different knowledge is marked by hegemonic vision biomedical, resents and demand a stronger field of concepts and methods capable of dealing with the complexity of reality. Therefore, it is necessary to an improvement in Post-Graduate with lines of research directed to the field in question, particularly at doctoral level
