The objective of this work is the development of didactic materials and proposals to a deeper understanding and reflection on the historical time in the 6th year of elementary school, combining content provided in the curriculum with concepts related to the topic in question. For this, we tried to establish a dialogue with some of the authors who discuss the historical time in the fields of history theory and history teaching. As a complex subject, time raises several debates and allows a plurality of approaches and perspectives. We started with the assessment that, despite its centrality to historical thinking, time is still underexplored or questioned in classroom. The dialogue with theory, therefore, allowed us to think about how the discussions on the historical time are expressed in classroom, either through temporal perspectives of students or how teachers can make a good use of them. The reflection over classroom practice allowed us to define some of the key challenges that need to be faced in order to allow a better understanding of historical time by the students of the 6th year.
