Motivação e engajamento dos estudantes de Ciências Contábeis: um estudo sobre a aplicabilidade da escala de Martin 2016

The study of student motivation and engagement, whether at any academic level, will always be a major challenge, given the many factors that can affect students. Thus, this paper seeks to analyze and measure the main factors that influence the motivation and engagement of accounting students in three higher education institutions. For that, we conducted research with 281 students at three universities in the city of Niteroi - RJ, and 220 forms were considered valid, without erasures. The research was done through a questionnaire, paper and classroom, from the scale for motivation and engagement of Andrew Martin (2016), with students enrolled between the first and eighth period. The data were treated statistically according to the method developed by the author of the scale. The results allowed to verify, through quantitative analyzes, that all the positive premises for both motivation and engagement, presented their scores above average and almost all negative aspects were below average. As conclusion of the study, even in a context different from that of the original research carried out by Martin (2016), the results presented in general were with correlation of high order constructs, corroborating even to the theory presented in the literature review.
