TEACHING ARTS IN MUNICIPAL SCHOOLS OF SALVADOR-BAHIA: PORTRAITS OF THE PRECARIOUSNESS OF THE TEACHING WORK

Resumo: Abstract: This paper discusses the insertion of Arts teaching in the Municipal Network of Education inSalvador, Bahia, Brazil, from the analysis of teacher’s working conditions in Elementary Schools. Thetext presents data referring to the exploratory phase of an action research associated to the Art in the Curriculum extension project, from the Federal University of Bahia, that aimed to evaluate and re-signify the Arts teaching in the municipal schools of Salvador. This phase aimed at producing a diagnosis of the conditions of the teacher’s working conditions, specifically for the areas of Music,Dance and Theater, to find possible solutions to the identified problems. Quantitative data are presentedrevealing a scenario of precarious working conditions for Art teachers, intertwined by a qualitative perspective resulting from reflections on the importance of advancing the discussions about the specificities of art pedagogy work in municipal schools of the network investigated. It is also highlighted the need for a permanent review of ethical-political positions regarding the search for quality of public schools. Keywords: Art education.; Teaching work conditions; Art Teaching.Resumo:   O presente artigo trata da inserção do ensino de Artes na Rede Municipal de Educação de Salvador-Bahia a partir da análise das condições objetivas do trabalho docente em escolas de Ensino Fundamental. O texto apresenta dados referentes à fase exploratória de uma pesquisa-ação articulada ao projeto de extensão Arte no Currículo, da Universidade Federal da Bahia, que objetivou avaliar e ressignificar o ensino de Artes nas escolas municipais de Salvador. Tal fase destinou-se à produção de um diagnóstico das condições do trabalho docente, especificamente nas linguagens de Música, Dança e Teatro, com vistas a buscar possíveis soluções para os problemas identificados. São apresentados dados quantitativos, que revelam um retrato de precarização nas condições de trabalho do professor de Artes, entremeados por um viés qualitativo, resultante de reflexões quanto a importância do avanço das discussões sobre as especificidades do trabalho artístico-pedagógico nas escolas municipais da referida rede de educação. É evidenciada, ainda, a necessidade de revisão permanente dos posicionamentos ético-políticos frente à busca pela qualidade da escola pública. Palavras-chave: Arte-educação; Condições do trabalho docente; Ensino de Arte.Resumen: El presente artículo trata de la inserción de la enseñanza de Artes en la Red Municipal deEducación de Salvador-Bahia, Brasil, a partir del análisis de las condiciones objetivas del trabajo docente en escuelas de Enseñanza Básica. El texto presenta datos referentes a la fase exploratoria de una investigación-acción articulada al proyecto de extensión Arte en el Currículo, de la Universidad Federal de Bahía, que tuvo como objetivo evaluar y resignificar la enseñanza de Artes en las escuelas municipales de Salvador. Tal fase se destinó a la producción de un diagnóstico de las condiciones deltrabajo docente, específicamente en los lenguajes de Música, Danza y Teatro, con miras a buscar posibles soluciones para los problemas identificados. Son presentados datos cuantitativos, que revelanun retrato de precarización en las condiciones de trabajo del profesor de Artes, entremezclados por unsesgo cualitativo, resultante de reflexiones en cuanto a la importancia del avance de las discusionessobre las especificidades del trabajo artístico-pedagógico en las escuelas municipales de dicha red de educación. Se evidencia también la necesidad de revisión permanente de los posicionamientos ético-políticos frente a la búsqueda por la   calidad de la escuela pública.
