Resumo:  The article reports an intervention in a youth and adult education (EJA) classroom at “Coronel João Anastácio de Queiroz” School (Marabá/PA). From the methodological perspective of action research (THIOLLENT, 1986), we perfomed workshops with oral readings of Histórias de Tia Nastácia, by Monteiro Lobato (1937), with the objective of studying reader's formation, aiming at the role of literature in the people’s construction. Besides that, we comment on the EJA’s profile, challenges and some results. In addition to the literary book, we made a bibliographic research with: Freire (1967, 1983, 1992 and 1996), Silva (2008), Gadotti (2014), Dalvi (2013) and Cosson (2009).

Na perspectiva metodológica da pesquisa-ação (THIOLLENT, 1986), realizamos oficinas presenciais de contação de histórias, com Histórias de Tia Nastácia, de Monteiro Lobato (1937), objetivando estudar a formação de leitores, tendo em vista o papel da literatura para a construção dos sujeitos. Ademais, traçamos o perfil da EJA, comentamos desafios e apresentamos alguns resultados.
