Resumo: This study aims to search for a scientific and technological prospection of the cumaru seed (Dipteryx odorata). The journals used to support the study were: SciELO, Science Direct, and Periódico Capes. Scientific articles, dissertations, and review articles were approached. To search for patents, were use a platform from the Intellectual Property Institute (INPI) and the World Intellectual Property Organization (WIPO), and the Web of Science. The research shows that the country that deposits the most patents on the subject is the United States of America (USA), China, and Germany. Cumaru has potential for several industrial segments. Through this study, it was possible to observe the potential and prospects that Dipteryx odorata has. This study opens doors in the development of new alimentary products and related areas, in addition to the perception in the construction of new technical knowledge to promote the various segments.

Os periódicos utilizados para embasar o estudo foram: SciELO, Science Direct e Periódico Capes. Foram abrangidos artigos científicos, de revisão e de dissertações. Para a busca de patentes, recorreu-se à plataforma do Instituto Nacional da Propriedade Industrial (INPI) e ao World Intellectual Property Organization (WIPO) e Web of Science. A pesquisa demonstrou que os países que mais depositam patente sobre a temática são Estados Unidos da América (EUA), China e Alemanha. O cumaru possui potencial para diversos segmentos industriais. Por meio deste estudo, foi possível observar a potencialidade e as prospecções que a Dipteryx odorata possui.
