This article aims to discuss how (and if) gender and sexuality issues in education are addressed in the Pedagogy course at the Federal University of XXXXX, as a Brazilian public university, from the perspective of students in the last semester of the course. Therefore, the study focuses on the impact that such issues had during the course, with emphasis on the areas, disciplines, projects and approach identified by the students. Based on the data collected, the research shows that students in the last semester have few and/or shallow discussions on the subject, in addition to homophobic representations in the speeches of professors and students of the course. Such evidence emphasizes the importance of the performance of the faculty of the course in question, and of other degrees, in order to pay attention to the importance of pedagogical work related to these themes in the initial teacher training.
