Recently, sustainability has become increasingly prominent in the world economic scenario, with worldwide agreement on the importance of minimizing environmental pollution and waste, reducing poverty and social inequality. Concerns about this issue come to the business sector, which seek, in parallel, to be economically efficient and to opt for more responsible business practices, inserting in this context the professional executive secretary. The main objective of this work is to analyze the role played by the Executive Secretariat professional in the evolution of the contemporary sustainable development process of the organizations in which it is inserted. To reach the proposed objectives, a qualitative and descriptive research was carried out through a bibliographical survey and a field search. The Comprehensive Interviewing technique was developed, developed with four professionals who work in companies in the city of Fortaleza, Ceará, which state that they have sustainable management. An interview script was used as an instrument of data collection. For the interpretation of the data we used the Discourse Analysis. After analyzing the data, it was inferred that those investigated directly influence the decision-making processes of the organizations, promoting and assisting in the necessary changes being established. It was concluded that its function is related to the capacity to manage, control, encourage, innovate, disseminate the knowledge and awareness necessary for the implementation and propagation of sustainability contributing to the achievement of the company's objectives, as well as to the supply Of answers to the society collaborating for the improvement of the quality of life in general.
