Resumo: This article aims to present a brief analysis of translation solutions for names of fantastic beings of Brazilian folk legends into German. The translation of these terms arouses a particular interest as it launches to the translators the challenge to mediate the transfer of cultural and folkloric significance of a term in one language to another. In this study, on the basis of the classification of Särkkä (2007), the German translations of three Brazilian legends were reviewed: "A Cobra Grande", "Iara" and "Caipora", published by the project Volkserzählungen aus Brasilien of the Latin American Association, carried out with the contribution of students from the Friedrich-Schiller Universität Jena, in Germany.

Universidade Federal Fluminense2019-08-27info:eu-repo/semantics/articleinfo:eu-repo/semantics/publishedVersionAvaliado pelos paresapplication/pdfhttps://periodicos.uff.br/gragoata/article/view/3409710.22409/gragoata.v24i49.34097Gragoatá; Vol. 24 No. 49 (2019): Translations and their alternatives: between craft and art; 286-298Gragoatá; v. 24 n. 49 (2019): Traduções e suas vicissitudes: entre ofício e arte; 286-2982358-41141413-907310.22409/gragoata.v24i49reponame:Gragoatáinstname:Universidade Federal Fluminense (UFF)instacron:UFFporhttps://periodicos.uff.br/gragoata/article/view/34097/22221Copyright (c) 2019 Gragoatáinfo:eu-repo/semantics/openAccessBrum, Diogo MathiasBolacio Filho, Ebal Sant'Anna2019-11-25T21:56:16Zoai:ojs.pkp.sfu.ca:article/34097Revistahttps://periodicos.uff.br/gragoataPUBhttps://periodicos.uff.br/gragoata/oai||revistagragoata@gmail.com2358-41141413-9073opendoar:2019-11-25T21:56:16Gragoatá - Universidade Federal Fluminense (UFF)false
