Resumo: | This text is dedicated to untangling the conceptual treatment of popular dancing in the Brazilian urban context of the present time. It makes an analysis of the concept of dança de rua and its specificities in relation to the notion of danças urbanas. For this purpose, it explains dança de rua and danças urbanas from their historical, aesthetic, georeferential configurations and the experience of members of these dances from Brazil. The purpose is: at the same time to explain different ways of doing dance and to show how forms of coloniality in dance operate in the present time, accompanying the tensions and conflicts that involve the process of making the culture of dancing not detached from the people who dance, their values, behaviors and knowledge. Therefore, the text was divided into two interconnected parts. |

Realiza uma análise do conceito de dança de rua e suas especificidades em relação à noção de danças urbanas. Para tanto, explica a dança de rua e as danças urbanas a partir de suas configurações históricas, estéticas, georeferencias e da experiência de integrantes desses fazeres dançantes a partir do Brasil. O propósito consiste em: ao mesmo tempo explicar modos distintos de fazer dança e evidenciar como operam formas de colonialidade em dança no tempo presente, acompanhando as tensões e conflitos que envolvem o processo de feitura da cultura de dançar não desvencilhada das pessoas que dançam, seus valores, comportamentos e conhecimentos.
