Resumo: The insertion of individuals in the cultural environment in which they live can be considered as an important formative social process, that directly interferes with their relationships with the society and with themselves. The cultural formation is permeated by both objective and material conditions, as well as by subjective and psychological ones. In the same way, educational processes are also influenced by prevailing ideology, the values propagated therein, the dominant social class and its interests. The object of this research is the Brazilian reality TV show Big Brother Brasil - BBB, a product quite representative of the Cultural Industry focused on the mass media. So, we aim to investigate the relationship between cultural formation from the perspective of the Frankfurtian Critical Theory and the content of the television show BBB with its consumers throught the News published about it in the past three years (from 2016 to 2019) in a selected media: the digital version of Veja magazine, the largest weekly magazine in the country. We start from the analysis of the discourse expressed in the published news and its titles, and relate them to the concepts of Cultural Industry, like Labor, Emancipation and Education against Barbarism. This is a qualitative research, focused on content analysis. In the material surveyed, we found instruments of alienation, capitalist values of the competitive and materialistic Society, that are present in the program content (either directly or indirectly). such as violence, competition, meritocracy, selfishness, self-exposure, and others - as well as signs of dehumanization. Given this scenario, we present the need for a cultural education that can resist barbarism, through awareness and formation for the emancipation of individuals, who, since childhood, are television viewers.

A formação cultural é perpassada tanto por condições objetivas, materiais, quanto por questões de ordem subjetiva e psicológica. Do mesmo modo, também os processos educacionais sofrem influência da ideologia vigente, dos valores nela propagados, da classe social dominante e seus interesses. Esta pesquisa tem como objeto o programa da TV aberta brasileira, do tipo reality show, Big Brother Brasil – o BBB, produto bastante representativo daIndústria Cultural voltada para os meios de comunicação de massa. Desta forma, temos como objetivo investigar a relação entre a formação cultural na perspectiva da Teoria Crítica Frankfurtiana e o conteúdo do programa de televisão BBB junto aos seus consumidores, por meio das notícias sobre o mesmo publicadas nos últimos três anos (de 2016 a 2019) em um veículo de comunicação selecionado: a versão digital da revista Veja, maior revista de circulação semanal no país. Partimos da análise do discurso expresso nas notícias publicadas e em seus títulos, e os relacionamos com os conceitos de Indústria Cultural, Trabalho, Educação e Emancipação e Formação Contra a Barbárie. Trata-se de uma pesquisa do tipo qualitativa, focada em análise de conteúdo. Evidenciou-se, no material levantado, que estão presentes no conteúdo do programa (quer direta ou indiretamente) instrumentos de alienação, valores capitalistas da sociedade concorrencial e materialista – como violência, competição, meritocracia, egoísmo, autoexposição, dentre outros - bem como traços de desumanização.
