Resumo: This paper addresses the sport aspect of Capoeira, in particular the "Competitive Games Capoeira", sponsored by the Federation of Capoeira of São Paulo and the Brazilian Association for Support and Development of the Arts-Capoeira, at the regional level. This analysis starts by a review of the literature and it is combined from a field study that included interviews with “mestres” of these institutions and the record in a field diary of a competition promoted by each of them. The results show the main features of the competitive structure of these championships, as well as some differences with regard to disclosure of results, and organization of key categories, awards, among others. Physical Education.Este trabajo se centra en el aspecto deportivo de la Capoeira, en particular los “Juegos Competitivos de Capoeira", realizados por la Federación de Capoeira de São Paulo y la Asociación Brasileña de Apoyo y Desarrollo del Arte-Capoeira en el plano regional. Este análisis parte de una revisión de la literatura y se combina de un estudio de campo que incluyó entrevistas con los “mestres” de estas instituciones y el registro en un diario de campo de una competición promovida por cada uno de ellos. Los resultados muestran las principales características de la estructura competitiva de estos campeonatos, así como algunas diferencias con respecto a la divulgación de los resultados, y la organización de las categorías principales, premios, entre otros. Educación Física.Este trabalho aborda a faceta esportiva da Capoeira, em particular os “Jogos Competitivos de Capoeira”, promovidos pela Federação de Capoeira do Estado de São Paulo e pela Associação Brasileira de Apoio e Desenvolvimento da Arte-Capoeira, em nível regional. Optamos por analisar os eventos organizados pelas referidas instituições por possuírem regulamento próprio e calendário regular de competições. Esta análise inicia-se por meio de uma revisão da literatura e complementa-se a partir de um estudo de campo que incluiu entrevistas aos mestres dessas instituições e o registro em diário de campo de uma competição promovida por cada uma delas.
