Resumo: | This research work investigates body education in urban spaces of sociability in the cit of Belo Horizonte, from 1897 to 1905. Legislation appears as an important source, as it allows for the analysis of projects envisaged by the State, establishing rules for the use of the urban space. It presents texts that encode desirable values and regulate social behavior. Legislative acts clarify the intentions of the State in terms of regulating the relationship society should have with the space it occupies, and they show that growing urbanization can categorize spaces and determine social practices which are authorized or hidden, thus creating a new sensitivity to the body.Keywords: Body education – city – legislation. |

La legislación se ha presentado como una fuente importante, una vez que da la posibilidad de proyectos imaginados por el poder público, estipulando reglas para utilización del espacio urbano. La misma trae textos privilegiados, que codifican valores deseables y reglamentan comportamientos sociales. Los decretos aclaran las intenciones del Estado en regular la relación de la sociedad con el espacio que va a ocupar y muestran que la creciente urbanización resultará en la categorización de espacios, lo que determinará prácticas sociales autorizadas u ocultadas, creando una nueva sensibilidad para el cuerpo.Palabras-claves: educación del cuerpo – ciudad – legislación.O estudo investiga a educação do corpo nos espaços de sociabilidade do urbano em Belo Horizonte, de 1897 a 1905. A legislação apresentou-se como uma fonte importante, pois, são textos privilegiados, codificando valores desejáveis e regulamentando comportamentos sociáveis. Possibilita a análise de projetos imaginados pelo poder público, estipulando regras para utilização do espaço urbano.
