The teaching of Geography in Rural Schools in Dourados (MS), the teacher’s view of Geography, discourse and practice

Resumo: This article is part of the research of our master's dissertation, completed in 2021, which analyzed the so-called Escolas do Campo, in Dourados, in the state of Mato Grosso do Sul (from 2012 to 2019) and the teaching of geography within these schools. In this article, we seek to present the analyzes that we have developed on this educational policy, built in the Lula governments (2003-2006, 2007-2010) and implemented in the Dilma Roussef government (2011-2014). Such analysis were built from the discourses and practices of geography teachers, with reference to bureaucratic and pedagogical aspects, which implies understanding the role of geography teaching, as a school subject, but, above all, its role in schools in rural area, created, in theory, to be differentiated. This condition, as we have seen, is still under construction and in dispute with the interests of agribusiness, which arise due to bureaucratic forces and the difficult working conditions of teachers, but also, due to the lack of autonomy of these teachers, over their own educational work, and non-understanding of geography teachers about the meaning of this educational modality.

En este artículo, buscamos presentar los análisis que hemos desarrollado sobre esta política educativa, construida en los gobiernos de Lula (2003-2006, 2007-2010) e implementada en el gobierno de Dilma Roussef (2011-2014). Dicho análisis se construyó a partir de los discursos y prácticas de los profesores de geografía, con referencia a los aspectos burocráticos y pedagógicos, lo que implica comprender el papel de la enseñanza de la geografía, como asignatura escolar, pero, sobre todo, su papel en las escuelas rurales, en teoría, creado para ser diferenciada. Esta condición, como hemos visto, aún está en construcción y en disputa con los intereses de la agroindustria, que surgen por las fuerzas burocráticas y las difíciles condiciones de trabajo de los docentes, pero también, por la falta de autonomía de estos docentes, sobre sus propia labor educativa, más alá de la comprensión completa de los profesores de geografía sobre el significado de esta modalidad educativa.Este artigo é parte da pesquisa de dissertação do mestrado que me proporcionou uma análise das chamadas Escolas do/no Campo que foram instaladas no Estado do Mato Grosso do Sul, fundamentalmente nos municípios de Dourados, a partir de 2011. Buscamos identificar como o ensino de geografia se desenvolve no interior dessas escolas. Para isso foi preciso analisar o modo como a geografia, enquanto disciplina do currículo escolar, vem sendo pensada e trabalhada, sob a perspectiva dos professores e gestores escolares. Nesse sentido, embora sejam todas escolas do campo, verificamos que em sua maioria são ainda escolas no campo.
