Resumo: Author and translator from Chinese, Emily Goedde, while editing the 91st Meridian for the University of Iowa, in 2008, gave space for contributors to explorethe intersections between literary translation and nonfiction. She approached the topic herself in the essay “No Nonfiction: PL2658.E8”, in which she took classic Chinese nonfiction and its absence from translation as a basis to show how China itself wasperceived in literature. We bring Goedde’s study for the first time into Portuguese. A brief interview with the author follows, in which she explains some of the issues raised in her essay.

A brief interview with the author follows, in which she explains some of the issues raised in her essay.O autora e tradutora do chinês Emily Goedde, então editando como convidada uma revista chamada 91st Meridian para Universidade de Iowa, em 2008, preocupou-se a dar espaço para que seus autores-contribuintes pudessem explorar todas as intersecções entre tradução e não ficção literária  (forma de criação em que o estilo e literariedade se encontrarm com o preocupação em retratar uma realidade). Da sua parte, abordou o tema no ensaio “nada de não ficção: PL2658.E8”, em que tratava da não ficção clássica chinesa como sua falta de presença no mundo da tradução servia como base para compreender como a própria China atual era vista no mundo literário. Neste paper, trazemos o ensaio de Goedde pela primeira vez traduzido e publicado em outro veículo que não a revista em que foi originalmente lançado. Segue-se uma breve entrevista com a autora em que ele explica em mais detalhes alguns pontos levantados pelo texto.
