Proposition of a thematic categorial matrix for the description of applications of the BPM methodology in Brazilian Public Higher Education Institutions

Business Process Management can be defined as a discipline, consisting of approaches, tools, techniques and methodology that aim to continuously manage business processes in order to improve the efficiency and effectiveness in delivering products and services to the end customer of an organization. The elaboration of this research was motivated by the extension project of the School of Information Science of the Federal University of Minas Gerais, called Academic BPM. The research was designed to support investigation on the implementation of BPM methodology in the context of Higher Education Institutions (HEIs). This study aims to answer: how to document the implementation of the application of a BPM methodology? To answer the problem, the objective of the study is to identify BPM projects implemented in Brazilian public HEIs and to propose a thematic categorical matrix for their description. Fourteen applications of the BPM methodology were mapped in Brazilian public HEIs and one was described in this article through the proposed thematic categorical matrix.
