Resumo: This work is presented in the form of an essay and is focused on issues related to the Brazilian context of attack on education and science. To reflect on these issues, we dialogue with Paulo Freire, one of the greatest names in liberating and humanizing education in Brazil. The core aim of the text is to present an array of possibilities for an educational biophile practice (one who loves people) in the face of a necrophilic political context (which incites hatred towards a lot of people). In methodological terms, a triad “love-indignation-hope” is presented as a Freirian tool for the production of a biophilic educational struggle against the dehumanizing practices of the Brazilian State. Amongst Paulo Freire's vast production, four works will be central to the debate proposed throughout this article, as follows: “Daring to Dream”, “Pedagogy of the Oppressed”, “Pedagogy of Indignation” and “Pedagogy of Hope”. Inthe end, it is pointed out that without love, without indignation, and without hope, the fight weakens, however, with Paulo Freire, the struggle is filled with beauty and courage.

Universidade Federal de Minas Gerais2021-12-29info:eu-repo/semantics/articleinfo:eu-repo/semantics/publishedVersionapplication/pdfhttps://periodicos.ufmg.br/index.php/rdes/article/view/3574910.35699/2237-5864.2021.35749Revista Docência do Ensino Superior; Vol. 11 (2021); 1-18Revista Docência do Ensino Superior; Vol. 11 (2021); 1-18Revista Docência do Ensino Superior; v. 11 (2021); 1-182237-58642358-6338reponame:Revista Docência do Ensino Superior (Online)instname:Universidade Federal de Minas Gerais (UFMG)instacron:UFMGporhttps://periodicos.ufmg.br/index.php/rdes/article/view/35749/29367Copyright (c) 2021 Francisco André Silva Martins, Prof.a.http://creativecommons.org/licenses/by/4.0info:eu-repo/semantics/openAccessMartins, Francisco André Silva Sousa, Cirlene Cristina de2023-03-22T15:27:44Zoai:periodicos.ufmg.br:article/35749Revistahttps://periodicos.ufmg.br/index.php/rdes/indexPUBhttps://periodicos.ufmg.br/index.php/rdes/oairevistadocenciaensinosuperior@ufmg.br||2237-58642237-5864opendoar:2023-03-22T15:27:44Revista Docência do Ensino Superior (Online) - Universidade Federal de Minas Gerais (UFMG)false
