The experience of graduation by a person with disabilities: reflections to advance in inclusion and accessibility

Resumo: The quota law provided the entry of many students with disabilities in universities. However, being able to complete the course has not been an easy task for these people. The aim of this study was to describe the experiences of a person with disabilities in graduating from a public university. This is an experience report carried out by a wheelchair graduate. Among the difficulties faced were the lack of architectural accessibility and prejudices experienced, generating disincentive, suffering and isolation. For her, the participation in extension projects with scholarship was shown to contribute to the permanence, as well as to attend transversal training disciplines with the theme of inclusion. The advances made in recent years for inclusion and accessibility in the university environment have been very important, but there is still much to go on for students with disabilities to have a more pleasurable and dignified experience. Thus, the fight against capacitive is urgent in higher education institutions.

Sin embargo, completar el curso no ha sido una tarea fácil para estas personas. El objetivo de este estudio fue describir las experiencias de una persona con discapacidad al graduarse de una universidad pública. Este es un informe de experiencia realizado por un graduado en silla de ruedas. Entre las dificultades enfrentadas se encuentran la falta de accesibilidad arquitectónica y los prejuicios experimentados, generando desincentivo, sufrimiento y aislamiento. Para ella, se demostró que la participación en proyectos de extensión con beca contribuye a la permanencia, así como asistir a disciplinas de capacitación transversal con el tema de inclusión. Los avances logrados en los últimos años para la inclusión y accesibilidad en el entorno universitario han sido muy importantes, pero aún queda mucho por hacer para que los estudiantes con discapacidad tengan una experiencia más placentera y digna. Así, la lucha contra la capacitiva es urgente en las instituciones de educación superior.A lei de cotas propiciou o ingresso de muitos estudantes com deficiência nas universidades. Contudo, concluir o curso não tem sido tarefa fácil para essas pessoas. O objetivo deste estudo foi descrever as vivências de uma pessoa com deficiência na graduação em uma universidade pública. Trata-se de um relato de experiência realizado por uma graduanda cadeirante. Dentre as dificuldades enfrentadas estiveram a falta de acessibilidade arquitetônica e preconceitos, geradores de desestímulo, sofrimento e isolamento. Para ela, a participação em projetos de extensão com bolsa contribuiu para sua permanência, bem como cursar disciplinas de formação transversal com a temática da inclusão. Os avanços alcançados nos últimos anos para a inclusão e acessibilidade no ambiente universitário foram muito importantes, mas ainda há muito a se avançar para que estudantes com deficiência tenham uma experiência mais prazerosa e digna.
