The use of information and communication technologies in undergraduate studies: a report of the experiences with the Hybrid Teaching Model workshop

Resumo: The workshop “Hybrid Teaching Model - Use of Information and Communication Technologies (ICTs) Associated with Classroom Teaching” was part of the V Formation Course for University Professors. Its purpose was to share with other professors the new experiences and challenges faced in the implementation of a hybrid educational design to improve the quality of teaching in practical Restorative Dentistry classes at the School of Dentistry of UFMG. Since current students have a much more interactive and technological profile, the use of a semi-attending teaching methodology improved the participation and quality of classes, solving problems and achieving greater interactivity between students and professors. Sharing that teaching experience contributed to a better preparation of professors who took part in the workshop, allowing them to redesign their courses for the hybrid model, in order to maximize the benefits of ICTs. Through the evaluation of the workshop by the participants after its conclusion, one could observe the motivational character of the workshop and the desire for change in most participants.

Through the evaluation of the workshop by the participants after its conclusion, one could observe the motivational character of the workshop and the desire for change in most participants.A oficina “Modelo Híbrido de Ensino – Emprego de Tecnologias da Informação e Comunicação (TICs) Associadas ao Ensino Presencial” fez parte do V Percurso Formativo de Docentes do Ensino Superior e teve como objetivo compartilhar com outros docentes as novas experiências e os desafios enfrentados na implementação de um projeto híbrido de ensino, a fim de melhorar a qualidade das aulas práticas de Odontologia Restauradora da Faculdade de Odontologia da UFMG. Considerando que os alunos atuais têm um perfil muito mais interativo e tecnológico, com o emprego da metodologia pedagógica semipresencial, foi possível melhorar a participação e a qualidade das aulas, sanando problemas existentes e conseguindo maior interatividade dos alunos com os professores. O compartilhamento dessa experiência docente pôde contribuir para uma preparação mais adequada dos docentes que participaram da oficina, permitindo a eles redesenhar seus cursos tradicionais para a modalidade híbrida, a fim de maximizar os benefícios das TICs.
