Reception from the point of view of the family health team workers

This article presents an experience report developed by students taking the subject Collective Health II, as part of the Nursing Course offered at Minas Gerais Federal University, which made it possible to reflect on welcoming according to professionals active in the Family Health Program (FHP) at a health center in Belo Horizonte, Brazil. We carried out a qualitative study, aimed at perceiving how family health team professionals conceive welcoming, and also at permitting reflections about welcoming practices at this health service unit. Data were collected through interviews, using a semistructured script with eight guiding questions. Data analysis was based on Content Analysis. Four categories were constructed: The meaning and purpose of welcoming, the ideal professional for welcoming, characteristics and competences of welcoming professionals and facilitating and difficulting factors. We observed that professionals at this service considered welcoming as one of the strategies implemented by the FHP which attempts to change the relations between workers and users and among workers, allowing for bonding and care humanization. Although still under construction, at the place of study, welcoming is very much present in the professionals' welcoming attitude, showing commitment to the population's demand.
