Analysis of scientific literature on professional education in brazilian nursing: an integrative review

Resumo: | The study objective was to identify and characterize the Brazilian publications related to professional education in nursing. This is an exploratory and descriptive study that uses a quantitative approach. We chose to use the integrative review as methodological reference. The study research was conducted through the LILACS database by combining the descriptors "nursing" and "professional education", between the years 1999 to 2009. Sixteen references were considered eligible. The data were analyzed according to their content, via descriptive statistics. Despite the small number of items found (n = 16) over a period of ten years, the publications provide contributions on what has been accomplished in the training the nursing professionals. The scientific production has been concentrated in the Southeast of the country (n = 12). As for the thematic approach, the most discussed topic was strategies for education (distance education, directed study, interdisciplinarity). Increased research is necessary for examining the context of the professional education in nursing as it requires the teacher to have critical-reflexive vision about secondary level nursing education at as a way to improve his/her performance as an educator. |

Se trata de un estudio exploratorio descriptivo con enfoque cuantitativo. El referente metodológico fue la revisión integrativa. La investigación fue realizada entre los años 1999 y 2009 por medio de la base de datos LILACS a partir de una combinación de descriptores "enfermería" y "educación profesional". Fueron escogidos dieciséis estudios. Los datos fueron analizados según su contenido a través de la estadística descriptiva. A pesar del pequeño número de artículos encontrados (n = 16) durante un período de diez años, las publicaciones aportan contribuciones a la capacitación de nivel medio de enfermería. La producción científica se concentró en la región sureste del país (n = 12). En cuanto al enfoque temático el asunto más discutido fue el de las estrategias para la educación (educación a distancia, estudio dirigido, interdisciplinariedad). Se observó la necesidad de aumentar los trabajos de investigación sobre el contexto de la educación profesional en enfermería porque es fundamental que los profesores tengan una visión crítica-reflexiva de tal educación como forma de mejorar su desempeño como educadores.O objetivo com este estudo foi identificar e caracterizar as publicações brasileiras relacionadas à educação profissionalizante em enfermagem. Trata-se de um estudo exploratório e descritivo com abordagem quantitativa. Optou-se por utilizar como referencial metodológico a revisão integrativa. A busca dos estudos foi realizada por meio da base de dados LILACS, mediante a combinação dos descritores "enfermagem" e "educação profissionalizante", entre 1999 e 2009. Foram elegíveis 16 referências. Os dados foram analisados, segundo os seus conteúdos, pela estatística descritiva. Apesar de reduzido número de artigos encontrados (n = 16) em um período de dez anos, as publicações trazem contribuições quanto ao que tem sido realizado na formação do trabalhador de nível médio em enfermagem. Houve a concentração da produção científica na região Sudeste do País (n=12). Quanto à abordagem temática, o assunto mais discutido refere-se a estratégias de ensino (educação a distância, estudo dirigido, interdisciplinaridade).
