Resumo: Job satisfaction is a complex phenomenon and difficult to define, as it deals with a subjective state that change according to person, circumstance, and time. It can affect the worker’s physical and mental health and interfere with his/her professional and/or social behavior. This study aims at identifying and classifying the expressions of satisfaction in the work performance as nursing professor. A descriptive research using a qualitative approach was carried out. The research subjects were 21 teaching nurses. Data was collected through individual, semi-structured interview. Ethical aspects were observed: the research received the approval of the institution’s Research Ethics Committee. The results revealed that, considering that specific productive process, teacher job satisfaction means, for the interviewed, a set of ideal fators that must be well articulated inside the job environment and that these elements, taken separately, do not provide full satisfaction. To conclude, the meaning extracted from the narrative of those performing the activities pertinent to their profession, must be considered as relevant to the institution to which they belong, aiming at optimizing the work environment and potentiating the quality of working life that generates positive product results.
