THE PHYSICAL EDUCATION IN BNCC: ADVANCES AND CHALLENGES

The aim of this text is to present the process of elaboration of the BNCC in the field of Physical Education and to analyze aspects related to its short time of existence, in the search to see the advances and challenges that the area faces. Its purpose is to guide the curricula of Brazilian schools, through general and specific competences for each area and curricular component, such as learning rights that must be guaranteed to all students. In the area of Physical Education, the process of preparing the document began in 2015, with a group of seven academic teachers/researchers and six schoolteachers, who worked on the 1st and 2nd versions of the document. With the change of government (Dilma-Temer) in May 2016, the continuity of the work took place through only one professor/academic researcher who worked on the 3rd version, launched in April 2017. The presence of Physical Education in the BNCC provided advances, such as: the presentation of a systematization proposal for the themes of body movement culture in Elementary School; its presence in public notices of the National Textbook Program and the proposition of a National Common Base for teacher training. However, there are still challenges in order to contemplate the need to seek spaces in teaching programs for the development of themes related to the interest and sociocultural context of the school community, the appropriation of the document by teachers and students, the understanding of Physical Education as an element of the schooling process and its contributions to the students' formation process. We conclude that for the current historical moment, the presence of Physical Education is necessary in the BNCC, in order to advance in the justification and maintenance of the discipline in the Brazilian curriculum structure, to search for advances and to overcome the limits.
