THE MEANINGS OF DIGITAL GAMES: PERCEPTIONS OF PLAYERS THAT PARTICIPATE IN COMPETITIONS

Resumo: | The aim of this research is to analyze the meanings of digital games for a group of players participating in competitions. This research was carried out with five young people participating in digital games competitions, in a cyberculture and pop culture event. The information was obtained through semi-structured interviews, with five questions. For the treatment of information, we trigger the analysis of content, through the record unit of the theme type. The inferential interpretations produced three categories of analysis: I) the meaning of digital games is in the experience itself with playing; II) the importance of digital games lies in the formation of social groups; and III) the value of the digital games is in its relations with the processes of esportivization. Therefore, the relationships that each player established with digital games, transit through different meanings, intrinsic and extrinsic, in dialogue with the values of hypermodern global culture, cyberculture and pop culture. |

Esta investigación se realizó con cinco jóvenes participantes en competiciones de juegos digitales, en un evento de cibercultura y cultura pop. La información fue obtenida a través de entrevistas semiestructuradas, con cinco preguntas. Para el tratamiento de las informaciones, accionamos el análisis de contenido, a través de la unidad de registro del tipo tema. Las interpretaciones inferenciales produjeron tres categorías de análisis: I) el significado de los juegos digitales está en la propia experiencia con el juego; II) la importancia de los juegos digitales está en la formación de grupos sociales; y III) el valor de los juegos digitales está en sus relaciones con los procesos de esportivización. Por lo tanto, las relaciones que cada competidor estableció con los juegos digitales transitan por diferentes significaciones, intrínsecas y extrínsecas, en el diálogo con los valores de la cultura global hipermoderna, de la cibercultura y de la cultura pop.O objetivo desta pesquisa é analisar os significados dos jogos digitais para um grupo de jogadores que participam de competições. Essa investigação foi realizada com cinco jovens participantes de competições de jogos digitais, em um evento de cibercultura e cultura pop. As informações foram obtidas através de entrevistas semiestruturadas, com cinco perguntas. Para o tratamento das informações, acionamos a análise de conteúdo, através da unidade de registro do tipo tema. As interpretações inferenciais produziram três categorias de análise: I) o significado dos jogos digitais está na própria experiência com o jogar; II) a importância dos jogos digitais está na formação de grupos sociais; e III) o valor dos jogos digitais está em suas relações com os processos de esportivização.
