Resumo: Society is in constant transformation and, consequently, education is also influenced by such changes, reflecting on teacher training, students and ways of learning and teaching. In this sense, the present study sought to identify the characteristics of a good teacher in the conception of students of a technical course at the Federal Institute of Education, Science and Technology of Northern Minas Gerais (IFNMG). Qualitative, exploratory research was chosen, using bibliographical survey and field research as technical procedures. Data collection was carried out with the application of a questionnaire and the qualitative analysis of the responses was carried out using the Collective Subject Discourse method. The result revealed that affective relationships and scientific mastery are the aspects most valued by students.

Nesse sentido, o presente estudo buscou identificar as características de um bom professor na concepção dos discentes de um curso técnico do Instituto Federal de Educação, Ciência e Tecnologia do Norte de Minas Gerais (IFNMG). Elegeu-se a pesquisa qualitativa, exploratória, utilizando-se o levantamento bibliográfico e a pesquisa de campo como procedimentos técnicos. A coleta de dados foi realizada com a aplicação de questionário e a análise qualitativa das respostas foi feita por meio do método do Discurso do Sujeito Coletivo.
