Resumo: The perception of death is the theme of the present research. An exploratory analysis from an anthropological perspective was sought, focusing on the professionals in thanatology in the city of Naviraí/MS and their reflections on death. The chosen methodology for the approach involved fieldwork, including interviews with professionals in the field, and a bibliographic survey was conducted. The study aims to understand the functions of thanatopraxists, the relationship of the profession to this ritual, and the conception of death.

Buscou-se realizar a partir da perspectiva antropológica uma análise exploratória sobre os profissionais da tanatopraxia da cidade de Naviraí/MS e suas reflexões sobre a morte. A metodologia escolhida para a abordagem recorreu ao trabalho de campo, com entrevistas dos profissionais da área e foi realizado levantamento bibliográfico.
