As man was creating and expanding cities, occupying the land, he devastated almost all existing vegetation, making green areas increasingly rare because of housing, road network and other buildings. The urban centers constitute the maximum representation of change of the environment realized by the man. Even urban green areas are, for the most part, planned and constructed under the exclusive view of man and not of the ecosystem as a whole. Therefore, the concern with the preservation and conservation of natural resources is relevant, and society should be guided by ecological thinking. In this perspective, the objective of this study is to estimate an economic value of the Massairo Okamura Park, under the conception of the population that frequents it, through the contingent valuation method with the willingness to pay (DAP). In order to carry out the work, 100 questionnaires were applied, during two weeks of July 2018, every day in the morning or afternoon period, always intercalating the periods, in order to evaluate the willingness to pay for Park users and to characterize, according to socioeconomic variables, and ecological knowledge. The application of the contingent valuation method showed that 59% of park visitors would be willing to contribute to the maintenance and conservation project, reaching approximately R $ 1,060.00 per month (one thousand sixty reais). The environmental valuation of the Park was R$ 819,121,463.40 / month (eight hundred and nineteen million, one hundred twenty-one thousand, four hundred sixty-three reais and forty centavos). It was noticed that, the lack of confidence in the governors due to the corruption and the high tax burden in the country, had repercussions on the responses of the visitors of the Massairo Okamura Park to DAP.
