ELABORATION OF RESEARCH PROJECTS WITH THE HELP OF CHATGPT: A STUDY WITH UNDERGRADUATE MATHEMATICS STUDENTS

Resumo: | The current technological landscape offers many opportunities to improve education, but the effective implementation of emerging technologies in classrooms presents significant challenges. This study aims to examine the efficacy of using ChatGPT – an artificial intelligence technology – as an auxiliary tool in the development of Mathematics Education research projects by undergraduate students in the Mathematics Education course at IFMT Campus Confresa. The research method for this qualitative research involved a questionnaire with open and closed questions, applied to 16 students who used ChatGPT to assist in the preparation of their research projects. The results indicate that it was effective as an auxiliary tool, helping them to address more complex issues and to develop more innovative teaching methods. However, the study also highlighted the need to use technology with discernment and a clear understanding of its limitations. |

Este estudio tiene como objetivo examinar la eficacia del uso de ChatGPT – una tecnología de inteligencia artificial – como herramienta auxiliar en la elaboración de proyectos de investigación en Educación Matemática por estudiantes universitarios del Curso de Educación Matemática en el Campus Confresa del IFMT. El método associado a esta investigación cualitativa implicó un cuestionario con preguntas abiertas y cerradas, aplicado a 16 estudiantes que utilizaron ChatGPT para ayudar en la preparación de sus proyectos de investigación. Los resultados indican que fue efectivo como herramienta auxiliar, ayudándoles a abordar cuestiones más complejas y a desarrollar métodos de enseñanza más innovadores. Sin embargo, el estudio también destacó la necesidad de usar la tecnología con discernimiento y una clara comprensión de sus limitaciones.O atual cenário tecnológico oferece muitas oportunidades para aprimorar a educação, mas a implementação efetiva de tecnologias emergentes em salas de aula apresenta desafios significativos. Este estudo tem como objetivo examinar a eficácia do uso do ChatGPT – uma tecnologia de inteligência artificial – como ferramenta auxiliar na elaboração de projetos de pesquisa em Educação Matemática por licenciandos do Curso de Licenciatura em Matemática do IFMT Campus Confresa. O método de pesquisa, esta de natureza qualitativa, envolveu um questionário com perguntas abertas e fechadas, aplicado a 16 licenciandos que usaram o ChatGPT para ajudar na elaboração de seus projetos de pesquisa. Os resultados indicam que foi eficaz como ferramenta auxiliar, ajudando-os a abordar questões mais complexas e a desenvolver métodos de ensino mais inovadores.
