ENVIRONMENTAL EDUCATION: TEACHING PRACTICE IN THE EARLY YEARS OF ELEMENTARY SCHOOL IN BELO JARDIM - PE

Resumo: Environmental education (EE) favors student engagement so they can act as agents of transformation in the face of socio-environmental problems. This research was carried out in a public Elementary School of the municipality of Belo Jardim, state of Pernambuco. Having qualitative and exploratory character, framing as documentary and participant. Methodologically, the instruments were used: Pedagogical Political Project (PPP), semi-structured interview and a pedagogical workshop aiming to investigate the insertion of EE in the school community. The data were analyzed considering the approach of critical EE, to investigate the EE in the practice of teachers from second to fifth grades to Elementary School. The results showed that the PPP addresses the theme only on commemorative dates. In the interviews, the participants presented a conservation and resolution conception, absence of the theme in the initial training, as well as punctual practices when addressing activities with students. The workshop has awakened a new look at EE. Thus, the importance of the school as a trainer of students aware of their rights and duties towards the environment. Therefore, this study contributes to new configurations in the insertion of EE in the investigated School, in the field of research and knowledge of the area.

La presente investigación fue realizada en una escuela pública de Educación Fundamental 2 (E.F) de la ciudad de Belo Jardim, estado de Pernambuco. Tiene carácter cualitativo y exploratorio, enmarcándose como documental y participativo. Metodológicamente se utilizaron los siguientes instrumentos: Proyecto Político Pedagógico (PPP), entrevista semiestructurada y un taller pedagógico con el objetivo de investigar la inserción de la EA en la comunidad escolar. Los datos fueron analizados considerando el enfoque EA-Crítico con el fin de investigar la EA en la práctica de profesores del 2º al 5º año de la EF. Los resultados mostraron que el PPP aborda el tema sólo en fechas conmemorativas. En las entrevistas, los participantes presentaron una concepción conservacionista y resolutiva, ausencia del tema en la formación inicial, además de prácticas específicas al abordar las actividades con los estudiantes. El taller generó una nueva mirada a EA. Así, se destaca la importancia de la escuela como formadora de estudiantes conscientes de sus derechos y deberes ante el medio ambiente. Por lo tanto, este estudio contribuye a nuevas configuraciones en la inserción de la EA en la escuela investigada, además de colaborar en el campo de la investigación y el conocimiento del área.A educação ambiental (EA) favorece o engajamento dos estudantes para que possam agir como agentes de transformação perante as problemáticas socioambientais. A presente pesquisa foi realizada em uma escola pública de Ensino Fundamental (EF) do município de Belo Jardim, estado de Pernambuco. Tem caráter qualitativo e exploratório, enquadrando-se como documental e participante. Metodologicamente, foram utilizados os instrumentos: Projeto Político Pedagógico (PPP), entrevista semiestruturada e uma oficina pedagógica objetivando investigar a inserção da EA na comunidade escolar. Os dados foram analisados considerando abordagem da EA-Crítica com a finalidade de investigar a EA na prática de docentes do 2º ao 5º ano do EF. Os resultados mostraram que o PPP aborda a temática apenas em datas comemorativas. Nas entrevistas, os participantes apresentaram concepção conservacionista e resolutiva e, ausência da temática na formação inicial, além de práticas pontuais quando abordam atividades de EA com os estudantes. A oficina despertou um novo olhar para a EA. Assim, destaca-se a importância da escola enquanto formadora de estudantes conhecedores dos seus direitos e deveres perante o meio ambiente.
