This work presents notes on the contributions that science fairs can provide to science education in the state of Tocantins. The research object the Science Fair of the state of Tocantins - FECITO, which takes place annually in the municipality of Araguaína - TO, promoted at the Federal University of Tocantins by the degree courses in natural sciences, coordinate by a professor of the degree course in biology. And, its general objective was to identify the contributions of these events to science education in basic education in Tocantins, highlighting how these contributions were made throughout the editions of the event. Therefore, a qualitative research was developed based on the methodological assumptions of documentary analysis and data collection, treated in the light of content analysis. From which we built two categories, academic science education and science education in basic education, both reveal the contributions of the event in different contexts over the years of its editions and corroborate the promotion of the interaction of teachers and students of basic education, academics the courses of degrees in natural sciences and professors at the university, in an environment conducive to the exchange of experience provided by FECITO, as identified in the two categories that emerged from the data analysis.
