THE PERCEPTION TO BE PROFESSOR OF ENGLISH FOR SPECIFIC PURPOSE: A STUDY WITH PROFESSORS OF UFAM

Resumo: This article is a cutting of a comprehensive survey Master's Degree in Science and Humanities Teaching – PPGECH and searched asnwer for the problem: what is the perception to be professor in the subject of English for Specific Purpose in the undergraduated course at UFAM? With the objective to analyze the professors’ perceptions about to be professor of English for Specific Purposes. The survey is a qualitative approach of the narrative type. Data were collected through of the narrative interview with four professors who teach this subject. Data processing was carried out in the light of Content Analysis. The perception to be a professor of the subject of IFE is based on the concept that to teach it the professor needs to be prepared theoretically and methodologically. To stimulate the education and stimulate learning, there is a need to prepare support materials, participate in events in search of new knowledge, join research groups, and invest in individual and collective training. Given this evidence, there is a need for training that contemplates the reality of the specific demands of IFE, both in terms of initial and continued training.

Given this evidence, there is a need for training that contemplates the reality of the specific demands of IFE, both in terms of initial and continued training.Este artículo es un extracto de una investigación más amplia desarrollada en el Programa de Posgrado en Enseñanza de Ciencias y Humanidades - PPGECH/UFAM y buscó una respuesta al problema: ¿Cuál es la percepción de ser docente de la disciplina de inglés con Fines Específicos en cursos de ¿Graduación de la UFAM? Con el objetivo de analizar las percepciones de los docentes sobre ser docente de inglés con Fines Específicos, la investigación tiene un enfoque cualitativo narrativo. Los datos fueron recolectados a través de entrevistas narrativas con cuatro profesores que enseñan la disciplina. El tratamiento de datos se realizó a la luz del Análisis de Contenido. La percepción de ser docente de la disciplina IFE se basa en la concepción de que, para impartirla, el docente necesita estar preparado teórica y metodológicamente. Para dinamizar la enseñanza y estimular el aprendizaje es necesario elaborar materiales de apoyo, participar en eventos en busca de nuevos conocimientos, participar en grupos de investigación, invertir en formación individual y colectiva. Ante esta evidencia, surge la necesidad de una formación que contemple la realidad de las demandas específicas del IFE, tanto en lo inicial como en lo permanente.Este artigo é um recorte de uma pesquisa mais ampla desenvolvida no Programa de Pós-graduação em Ensino de Ciências e Humanidades – PPGECH/UFAM e buscou resposta para o problema: Qual a percepção de ser docente da disciplina de Inglês para Fins Específicos nos cursos de graduação da UFAM? Com o objetivo de analisar as percepções de professores sobre ser docente de Inglês para Fins Específicos, a pesquisa é de abordagem qualitativa do tipo narrativa. Os dados foram coletados por meio da entrevista narrativa com quatro professores que ministram a disciplina. O tratamento dos dados foi à luz da Análise de Conteúdo. A percepção de ser docente da disciplina de IFE está baseada na concepção que para ministrá-la o professor precisa ser preparado teórica e metodologicamente. Para dinamizar o ensino e estimular o aprendizado, há necessidade de preparar materiais de apoio, participar de eventos em busca de novos conhecimentos, inserir-se em grupos de pesquisa, investir na formação de forma individual e coletiva.
