Resumo: From the understanding that academic literacy practices, traditionally developed in higher education, can also be present in basic education, we aim, in this work, at analyzing the management of voices in research articles produced by high school students participating in projects of scientific initiation, regarding the forms and functions of mentioning the speech of others, as one of the aspects in the construction of student researcher identity based on his scientific work in a given discipline. Therefore, we selected ten research articles from two areas of knowledge – five from Agricultural Sciences and five from Linguistics, Letters and Arts – with themes similar to those of the research projects and in co-authorship with the respective supervisor professor. These data are analyzed comparatively, using a qualitative-interpretative approach, based on theoretical foundations in Literacy Studies, in the Academic Literacy Approach and in enunciative studies on the mention of others’ voices in academic texts. The analyzes reveal that the forms and functions of mentioning others’ voices both resemble the most usual conventions in the respective areas and denote characteristics more suited to beginners' writing, which demonstrates an itinerary of construction of students' identity as beginning researchers in formation. Therefore, the results show that the inclusion of students in the making of disciplines, through literate practices, is a complex, non-linear and nuanced process
