Resumo: It is a reflection about the need of a differentiated focus on the care facets, especially home care, aiming at the nursing teacher’s realization of the new perspectives aroused during the post-modern period. The study contemplates the emerging challenges in relation to the nursing professional’s new profile, and the need for a teaching re-elaboration. It also emphasizes the need of constant knowledge upgrade on the part of the nursing educator as a way to fulfill his/her goals. Finally, it considers the ultimate importance, in the aforementioned outlook, of educating professionals aware of the nursing care essential character and, of the difference that they can make as actual nurses.

El objetivo de este estudio fue completar los desafíos emergentes en relación al nuevo perfil del profesional de enfermería y demostrar la necesidad de una nueva elaboración de la enseñanza y, además de eso, destacar la necesidad de un constante perfeccionamento del enfermero docente como modo de alcanzar los objetivos a que se propone. Se considera, finalmente, la importancia de que, dentro de esas perspectivas apuntadas, se desarrollen profesionales de enfermería conscientes de lo esencial, que es el cuidado de enfermería y la diferencia que pueden elles como verdaderos enfermeros.Reflexão a respeito da necessidade de um enfoque diferenciado com relação ao cuidado e seus desdobramentos, especialmente o cuidado domiciliar, buscando despertar o olhar do docente de enfermagem para o ensino na graduação a partir das novas perspectivas surgidas com as mudanças que se apresentam no período de pós-modernidade. O estudo buscou contemplar os desafios emergentes em relação ao novo perfil do profissional de enfermagem e demonstrar a necessidade de uma re-elaboração do ensino, e, além disso, ressaltar a necessidade de um constante aprimoramento do docente enfermeiro como forma de atingir os objetivos aos quais se propõe.
