Indicators for restructuring the curriculum of the nursing school: expectation of the professionals and appreciation of the curriculum by former students

Resumo: In order to restructure the curriculum of the Nursing School in Ribeirão Preto - University of São Paulo, the following items were taken as indicators: 1. a survey on the expectations of nursing professionals towards the profession, functions, other members of the staff and professora of the School; 2. an appreciation of the curriculum by these professionals (former students). A hundred and fifteen nurses from five general hospitals in Ribeirão Preto were heard. The tabulation of the answers given to the questionaire applied allows us to assert that the assistence is the most emphasized function; the expectations of the individual as a student change with the practice of the profession; 60% of the nurses heard consider the contents of the subjects included in the curriculum adequate and 69% consider them unessential to the different qualifications of nursing.

Foram consultados 115 enfermeiros de 5 hospitais gerais de Ribeirão Preto.
