Resumo: This paper intends to look at the remuneration of the municipal education system of São Paulo, based on data from the payroll from 2008 to 2013. It aims to discuss teacher appreciation under the scope of remuneration. In methodological terms, the research has quanti-qualitative characteristics, establishing connections between the documentary study and the analysis of the payrolls. The average salary of municipal teachers was compared to the Minimal Necessary Wage (SMN) of Dieese, the National Professional Wage Floor (PSPN) and the average salary of non-teachers with equivalent training, according to data from the Document Baseline – National Education Plan for 2013, state of São Paulo. It was verified that most of the teachers of the municipal network of São Paulo is tenured, works 40 hours per week in the classroom and receives an average remuneration above the PSPN, the SMN of the Dieese and the average salary of non-teachers, according to data from the document Baseline – PNE.

O objetivo é discutir a valorização docente sob o prisma da remuneração. Em termos metodológicos, a pesquisa tem característica quanti-qualitativa, estabelecendo conexões entre o estudo documental e a análise das folhas de pagamento. A média salarial dos professores municipais foi comparada ao Salário Mínimo Necessário do Dieese, ao Piso Salarial Profissional Nacional e à média salarial de não professores com formação equivalente, de acordo com os dados do documento Linha de Base – Plano Nacional de Educação para o ano de 2013, estado de São Paulo.
