Resumo: Considering the recent boom of photobooks in the editorial field, this paper aims to discuss their relevance to photography’s circulation, especially when we live under a technoimagetic ambience dominated by the digital image and the screens. In order to do that, we analyse the editorial trajectory of The Americans, a photobook by Robert Frank, since its first edition (1958) until its most recent one (2008). As Frank’s work maintains itself as an important reference for the photographic field, we suggest that photobooks play a decisive role not only in terms of circulation and propagation of ideas, but also in expanding the critical potential of photography.

Universidade Federal do Rio Grande do Sul2021-03-19info:eu-repo/semantics/articleinfo:eu-repo/semantics/publishedVersionapplication/pdfhttps://seer.ufrgs.br/index.php/intexto/article/view/9435010.19132/1807-8583202152.94350Intexto; No. 52 (2021); 94350Intexto; Núm. 52 (2021); 94350Intexto; No. 52 (2021); 94350Intexto; N. 52 (2021); 94350Intexto; n. 52 (2021); 943501807-8583reponame:Intexto (Porto Alegre)instname:Universidade Federal do Rio Grande do Sul (UFRGS)instacron:UFRGSporhttps://seer.ufrgs.br/index.php/intexto/article/view/94350/60790Copyright (c) 2021 Wagner Souza e Silva, Bruna Sanjar Mazzillihttps://creativecommons.org/licenses/by-nc/4.0info:eu-repo/semantics/openAccessSouza e Silva, WagnerMazzilli, Bruna Sanjar2023-02-08T18:48:50Zoai:seer.ufrgs.br:article/94350Revistahttp://seer.ufrgs.br/intextoONGhttp://seer.ufrgs.br/intexto/oai||intexto@ufrgs.br1807-85831807-8583opendoar:2023-02-08T18:48:50Intexto (Porto Alegre) - Universidade Federal do Rio Grande do Sul (UFRGS)false
