Critics of an absent enunciator: the constitution of opinion in cultural journalism

Resumo: The objective of this text is to reflect upon the way art critics reveal themselves in the text and the role they perform in the field of artistic production. Presently, it is possible to observe that the authors of critiques have a tendency to assume a position of a “nonperson”, since they do not use any explicit vestige of first person, what would denote that they themselves are the enunciators. This way, they seem to endow their opinion with a factual and even scientific form, taking the authoritarian position of a “minor god” which is characteristic of a journalistic discourse influenced by both positivist and critical paradigms. The musical critique in Bravo! magazine, monthly publication about culture with wide circulation in Brazil, was used as a sample to illustrate this way the genre has constituted itself.

Así, parece revestir su opinión de un carácter factual y mismo científico, asumiendo un lugar un poco autoritario de “pequeño dios” característico de un discurso periodístico fuertemente influenciado por los paradigmas positivista y crítico. La crítica musical de la revista Bravo!, publicación mensual dedicada a la cultura de grande circulación en Brasil, fue utilizada como muestra para ilustrar esa forma como el género se ha constituido.O objetivo do presente texto é refletir sobre como o crítico de arte se manifesta em seu texto e que papel ele exerce no campo de produção artística. Atualmente, é possível observar uma tendência do autor de crítica em assumir uma posição de “não-pessoa”, já que não usa nenhum vestígio explícito de primeira pessoa, o que denotaria que é ele mesmo o enunciador. Assim, parece revestir a sua opinião de um caráter factual e até mesmo científico, assumindo um lugar algo autoritário de “pequeno deus” característico de um discurso jornalístico fortemente influenciado pelos paradigmas positivista e crítico.
