Resumo: In this documentI collect various approaches to the establishment of the competencesthat mathematics teachers should develop in Elementary School. To dothis, first I analyze the role of the notion of competence as part of teachers’education. Next, I focus on the European guidelines that have been usedfor the design of new qualifications aimed at the teachers’ education, withspecial attention to the Spanish case. Finally, I analyze different papers inresearch focused on the area of mathematics.

Para ello, en primer lugar analizo el papel de la nociónde competencia en el marco de la formación de profesores. A continuaciónme centro en las directrices europeas que se han empleado para el diseñode las nuevas titulaciones dirigidas a la formación de maestros, prestandoespecial atención al caso español.
