ANALYSIS OF ACADEMIC AND PROFESSIONAL CHARACTERISTICS OF APPROVED CANDIDATES FOR COURSES OF ACCOUNTING AND CONTROLLING POST-GRADUATE STUDIES IN BRAZIL

Resumo: This research aims to analyze the characteristics of future academic and professional students of post-graduate studies in Accounting and Controlling in Brazil, since the selection of candidates should identify those who can contribute most to the performance of the program by through distinct stages of evaluation and analysis of the Lattes curriculum of each. Accordingly, through a descriptive study involving content analysis and quantitative approach, the study analyzed six programs, totaling 132 applicants to courses by using logistic regression which aimed to evaluate the statistically significant characteristics for the successful candidates, being addressed as study variables: experience work and educational, scientific production in periodicals and congresses. As overall conclusion of the study, we identified several factors that contribute to students' approval in selection processes under study, however, when it comes to professional and academic characteristics identified in candidates’ Lattes curriculum we identified two relevant variables: professional experience and scientific production in congresses, and this variable was the most discussed in international studies related to the evaluation of graduate programs. Keywords: Post graduate Stricto Sensu. Professional and academic characteristics.Esta investigación tiene como objetivo analizar las características de los futuros estudiantes académicos y profesionales de los estudios de postgrado en Contabilidad y Control en Brasil, ya que la selección de candidatos debe identificar a aquellos que más pueden contribuir a la ejecución del programa por a través de las distintas etapas de evaluación y análisis del currículo Lattes de cada uno. En consecuencia, a través de una investigación descriptiva con análisis de contenido y el enfoque cuantitativo, el estudio analizó seis programas por un total de 132 candidatos a los cursos mediante el uso de regresión logística que tenía como objetivo evaluar las características estadísticamente significativas para los candidatos aprobados, siendo observadas las variables de experiencia laboral y enseñanza, publicaciones en revistas y congresos científicas. La conclusión general del estudio, se identificaron varios factores que contribuyen a la aprobación de los estudiantes en los procesos de selección en estudio, sin embargo, cuando se trata de características profesionales y académicas identificadas en curriculo Lattes del candidatos, se identificaron las variables relevantes: la experiencia profesional y publicaciones en congresos científicos, y esta variable fue el más discutido en los estudios internacionales relativos a la evaluación de los programas de posgrado. Palabras clave: Postgrado Stricto Sensu, Evaluación de los programas, Características académicas y profesionales.A presente pesquisa se propõe a analisar as características acadêmicas e profissionais dos futuros estudantes dos cursos de pós-graduação Stricto Sensu em Contabilidade e Controladoria no Brasil, visto que a seleção de candidatos deve identificar aqueles que mais podem contribuir com o desempenho do programa, por intermédio de etapas distintas de avaliação e análise do currículo Lattes de cada um. Nesse sentido, por meio de uma pesquisa descritiva envolvendo análise de conteúdo e abordagem quantitativa, o estudo analisou seis programas, totalizando 132 candidatos aos cursos, utilizando a regressão logística pela qual se buscou avaliar as características estatisticamente significativas para os candidatos aprovados, sendo abordadas como variáveis a experiência profissional e docente, produção científica em periódicos e congressos. Como conclusão geral da pesquisa, foram identificados diversos fatores que contribuem para aprovação dos estudantes nos processos seletivos em estudo, no entanto, quando se refere às características profissionais e acadêmicas identificadas nos currículos Lattes dos candidatos, foram identificadas duas variáveis relevantes: a experiência profissional e a produção científica em congressos, sendo esta variável a mais abordada em estudos internacionais relacionados à avaliação dos programas de pós-graduação. Palavras-chave: Pós-Graduação Stricto Sensu.
