This article focuses on the play in early childhood education. This is a topic that, despite being widely discussed in the field of science education, it is still like this place works. It is a study in a public school located in the city of Martins, RN. In this context, this study seeks to answer the following question: how important is the play for children's education? This research question has guided all the investigative route. And the goal is to understand the importance of play in the context of early childhood education. It was anchored in research and in the light of the thinking of theorists such as Tordelo (1999); Madroney (1998); Brazil (1998). We chose a mixed methodology that combines the literature and empirical considering the most viable for the study concerned. As a result, it was understood that the play is considered an important tool for students / children studying in kindergarten.
