Resumo: OBJECT: This study aims to describe the anthropometric nutritional state, the food consumption and the physical activity level in students at the elementary school, by analyzing the associations between the variables. METHODS: Sixty hundred and four children were evaluated, being 344 male, with an average age of 9.73 ± 1.74 years. The anthropometric nutritional state was evaluated through the body mass index. The food consumption and the physical activity level were evaluated by a quiz illustrated that was validated and responded by the students, which should identify the food consumed and the exercises performed in the past 24 hours. The associations were tested by the chi-square test, with a calculation of the respective reasons of prevalence and with a confidence gap of 95%. RESULTS: The most part of students was eutrophic (66.2%), but 17.2% had and 11,4% were obesity. The males presented with a higher overweight and obesity prevalence, but also presented as the more active than the females. Furthermore, the boys reported a bigger food consumption regarding the groups: milk and derivatives, ultra-processed and fruits, vegetables and greens. The group of students without overweight presented significantly more active (18.4% vs 8.4% p = 0.01), and the student group most active presented a higher consumption of fruit, vegetables and greens (26.8% vs 22.0%, p < 0,01) and milk and derivatives (29.0% vs 28.3%, p < 0,01). CONCLUSION: The overweight frequency was quite high in the sample analysed, and the boys showed a higher consumption of food groups and physical activity level.

Foram avaliadas 604 crianças, sendo 344 do sexo masculino, com idade média de 9,73±1,74 anos. O estado nutricional antropométrico foi avaliado através do Índice de Massa Corporal. O consumo alimentar e o nível de atividade física foram avaliados com questionário ilustrado validado e respondido pelos escolares, que deviam identificar os alimentos consumidos e os exercícios realizados nas 24 horas do dia anterior. As associações foram testadas utilizando o teste qui-quadrado, com cálculo das respectivas razões de prevalência e intervalo de confiança de 95%. A predominância do estudo foi de eutrofia (66,2%) seguido de sobrepeso 17,2%. O sexo masculino apresentou uma maior prevalência de sobrepeso e obesidade, como também apresentou-se mais ativo que o sexo feminino. Além disso, os meninos relataram um maior consumo alimentar em relação aos grupos: leite e derivados, ultraprocessados e frutas, legumes e verduras. O grupo de escolares sem excesso de peso apresentou-se significativamente mais ativos (18,4% vs 8,4% p=0,01), e o grupo de escolares mais ativos apresentou um maior consumo de frutas, legumes e verduras (26,8% vs 22,0%) e leite e derivados (29,0% vs 28,3%, p=0,00 para todos).
