Resumo: This study aims to define the socio demographic and professional profile of those people whose higher education was given in the course of Statistics in any Brazilian state. This is a quantitative survey in which the sample data from demographic census 2010 was used to a descriptive analysis and applied to the grade of membership method for determining the classification profiles for statisticians. The grade of membership method consists of estimating the probability of l response to a j variable on k profile, creating a degree of relevance of each individual to a certain extreme profile. The study in question allowed an overview of the characteristics of the Brazilian statistical and revealed the existence of three extreme profiles among the evaluated statistics: i) a profile with higher income, encompassed by aged people and centered in the Brazilian Southeast and Center-West regions; ii) an intermediate income profile, composed of young people and also centered in the Southeast Brazilian region; iii) lower income profile, consisting of people of middle age who live and work in other regions. Through this classification was possible to observe personal differences, professional and demographic statistical in geographical regions.

Trata-se de um levantamento quantitativo em que foram utilizados os microdados amostrais do censo demográfico do ano de 2010 para uma análise descritiva e também a aplicação do método grade of membership para a determinação dos perfis de classificação para os estatísticos. O método grade of membership consiste na estimação da probabilidade de resposta l a uma variável j no perfil k, gerando um grau de pertinência de cada individuo a um determinado perfil extremo. O estudo em questão permitiu uma visão geral sobre as características dos estatísticos brasileiros e revelou a existência de três perfis extremos dentre os estatísticos avaliados: i) um perfil com maior rendimento, englobado por pessoas de idade mais avançada e centrado nas regiões Sudeste e Centro-Oeste; ii) um perfil de rendimento intermediário, composto por jovens e também centrado no Sudeste; iii) um perfil de rendimento inferior, consistindo de pessoas de idade intermediária que residem e trabalham nas demais regiões.
